WIP: Psychonaut
Posted by evolver on February 18, 2022 at 8:06 pmThis is a story I’m doing that is related to the story I had in the first anthology. Just inks for now, once I put all the letters in I’d appreciate thoughts on the story flow. I’ll add the pages as i finish inking
One question for other artists: I have not found a way to cleanly ink ellipses yet – I have a flexible curve and French curves but can’t quite seem to find the right tool. Any idea how to ink the rings around the space ship more cleanly?

It’s a mix of dip pen, brush, and micron. Using a micron for anything precise. Dip pen for details and outlines. Brush for large blacks and anything requiring a long fluid stroke.

The curves i was trying to do i originally penciled digitally with some stabilization on the stroke. So I think that’s where i had poor planning (totally custom ellipse). I might need to redraw them with pencil and these templates on the other blue line pages that show the ship

@evolver It looks great! I am really liking the depth that you add over the path of the panels!
For the micro pens what tips and sizing are you using? I think the templates the guys were talking about above help, but if you have a hard tip micro pen for the outline, and a curve or soft felt for the rounded edges I find that helps.
Keeping in mind I am by no means an expert inker. Good Luck my friend, Can’t wait to see more. 😉
