Interestingly enough not many mainstream books, only a handful of books I recognize.

I think there are a few reasons for that:

      1. If the librarian are recommending book to non-comic readers, they would want self-contained books that could be read without prior knowledge. While there are a few mainstream TBRs that fit this criteria, there are fewer than there used to be.

2.Librarians are more likely to get their books through traditional publishers rather than the traditional comics distribution market. They’re reading different trade journals and getting different press releases, etc.

      1. The list is diverse and international, which tends toward indie.

      2. They want to show the diversity of the comics medium, not just through the creators, but through the types of stories as well.

Maybe indie comics are the future of comics and the mainstream is a thing of the past.
